300 by Frank Miller, Lynn Varley (Colorist) | eBook | Barnes 300 by Frank Miller, Lynn Varley (Colorist) | eBook | Barnes

The last one is nowadays pure High angle scene– far more epic in the comic (better angle in the comic, and you can see more of the drawing):

The comic as actually having a more complex composition. Note the silhouette of the character at the very top (which is missing in the film): THIS IS SPARTA! The historical innaccuracies are also harder to ignore when all the fun is leeched out. The irony of Spartans calling Athenians 'boy lovers' as if they were known for being staunchly heterosexual themselves, or for Leonidas to go on about freedom when the Spartans were anything but democratic and had worse systems of slavery than the Persians did (historical sources seem a little muddled on that last one, though, namely if the Persians technically had slavery at all). Writer David Brin has also criticized 300 as being historically inaccurate, with particular reference to the bravery and efficacy of the non-Spartan Greeks: This is Frank Miller's “epic retelling of history's supreme moment of battlefield valor…” Sparta versus all of Persia. “The armies of Persia—a vast horde greater than any the world has ever known—are poised to crush Greece, an island of reason and freedom in a sea of madness and tyranny. Standing between Greece and this tidal wave of destruction are a tiny detachment of but three hundred warriors.”

Alcibiades• Alexander the Great• Greek helmets• Greek shield• Homosexuality in the militaries of ancient Greece• Hoplite• Leonidas I• Macedonian phalanx• Milo of Croton• Pericles• Phalanx formation• Sacred Band of Thebes• Themistocles• Thucydides• Trireme• And yet Frank Miller would have us believe they're better than the cultured Athenians (who're habitually described as boy-lovers, in spite of the Spartans being big macho maries themselves), that they can rationally reject their religion (the priests are painted as corrupt) and that what they're fighting for in their battle against the Persians is WESTERN CIVILISATION ITSELF. Now, I have to admit that upon my closer inspection of the film, while doing all these screenshot comparisons, and while viewing the film multiple times, that I have come to the conclusion that this is using the very same 2K DI (digital intermediate) master found on that 2007 Blu-ray (and HD-DVD). That’s just my opinion though, as no definitive info has been made by the studio regarding this. Hot Gates, indeed! Devotees of the pectoral, deltoid and other fine muscle groups will find much to savor as King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) leads 300 prime Spartan porterhouses into battle against Persian forces commanded by Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro), a decadent self-proclaimed deity who wants, as all good movie villains do, to rule the world. A Digital Copy of the film is included, via a physical paper insert with a redemption code, which is compatible with Movies Anywhere. That means you’ll get a 4K digital copy of the films on services like iTunes, VUDU, and Fandango Now.The comic is a fictional retelling of the Battle of Thermopylae and the events leading up to it from the perspective of Leonidas of Sparta. 300 was particularly inspired by the 1962 film The 300 Spartans, a film Miller watched as a young boy. [1] The work was adapted in 2006 to a film of the same name. [2]
