Description

If you’re looking for a display that supports USB-C and has accurate, consistent, and vivid colors, we recommend the LG 34WQ73A. Its predecessor, the LG 34UC79G-B has a resolution of 2,560 x 1,080 and a 21:9 aspect ratio, and at release, we loved it for those features. Things get better on the newer iteration. This 21:9 panel has a resolution of 3,440 x 1,440, which is the same resolution as its rivals like the Samsung C34F791 and Acer Predator x34, which cost almost double. More importantly, it’s VESA mount compatible, should you want to keep your desk and table clutter-free and free from cables and likes. The panel uniformity of this monitor is very good. I didn’t notice any major inequalities in color and brightness levels across the monitor. Even towards its edges, the deviations weren’t significant.

The LG 34WN80C monitor offers plenty of useful features, including On-Screen Control, which allows you to adjust all of the monitor’s key settings in a desktop application. Given that it’s not a gaming monitor, this is not surprising, though since FreeSync is royalty-free, including it wouldn’t have increased the monitor’s price. The design of the monitor is elegant and simple with ultra-thin bezels while the stand offers height adjustment up to 110mm, tilt by -5°/15°, and 100x100mm VESA mount compatibility. Though the picture quality is great, the performance is a tad underwhelming in the color profiles space. It can display 95% of the sRGB color space, and that’s about it. But the good news is that the VA panel displays accurate colors (if not more vibrant), especially when watching content. The brightness peaks at 300cd/m2.Regardless, video games will look great thanks to the monitor’s high resolution and vibrant colors!

So what’s the crux of the BenQ EX3501R ultrawide monitor? For starters, the EX3501R is known to produce excellent picture quality. It has a contrast ratio of 1100:1 and is arguably one of the best for its price range. The combination of the curved display and the excellent picture quality makes it great for consuming media content. And the 100Hz refresh rate and the included support for FreeSync makes it suitable for gaming as well.Colors are fairly accurate, their temperature only deviates by a small margin across the entire screen. This is a vital attribute for gaming and movies –meaning they’re important for a multi-use panel like this. Verdict Response time is a vital consideration for gaming screens, and the LG performs very well. Its average response time of 5ms is excellent, anything below 20ms is good for gaming. So far, among similarly priced 1440p ultrawide monitors, both the LG 34UC80 -B and the LG 34WN80C-B have the best response time speed, with near absent motion blur and ghosting in fast-paced games. There’s a Response Time Control feature in the OSD (On-Screen Display) that you can use to further eliminate ghosting.

Keep in mind that to get to USB 3.0 data speed, the USB-C port of the monitor needs to be used as the upstream port via a USB-C to USB-A cable. When using USB-C to USB-C, the USB hub is limited to USB 2.0 speed. Price & Similar MonitorsYou could think of the LG 34WN80C-B as essentially a scaled-down version of our favorite LG 34UC80-B, with a similar native resolution and design, but it adds a couple of things like USB-C connectivity (not found on its pricier cousin). Its 99 percent sRGB color gamut coverage and AMD FreeSync technology make the 34WN80C-B a better choice for game designers, as well as anyone who wants to get in a few rounds of gaming when they’re not working. If you do not want to spend a fortune on a monitor, you can look at the LG 34WN80C-B. It displays sRGB 99% color gamut, which makes it ideal both for video editing and graphic designing. The colors are rich and accurate. The panel is bright, and if we talk numbers, this monitor delivers a brightness level of 300 cd/m2. Though it has a resolution of 3440 X 1440, this 34-inch monitor does a great job in rendering clear and crisp text. The 34WN80C-B sports a simple, straightforward design. The base is a large, curved footprint from it emerges a telescopic arm that offers ergonomic adjustments (-5°/20° tilt, a max of 120mm height), and VESA mount support. Just like its peers in the 34-inch range, its curvature of 1900R delivers an immersive experience. The 21:9 ultrawide format also provides you with extra horizontal screen space, which is ideal for productivity work and video editing. Of course, games and movies will look more immersive as well! The monitor is based on LG’s AH-IPS panel with 178° wide viewing angles, dithered 10-bit color depth support (8-bit + 2-bit FRC), and standard 99% sRGB color gamut.
